Max Pain: OfficeMax to do Its Own Layoff

OfficeMax, a big box office supply store, has decided it had better lighten up its own spending as its customers all lighten up theirs. They have made the choice to layoff 245 employees, many from corporate in Chicago or out in the field.

Sending further ripples through the USA eclownomy (economy), they will slow expansion and remodels. These expansions and remodels tend to offer some employment for contractors and builders. This will not be the case for the near future until the economic cycle picks up and it makes sense to do so. In fact, one might guess store closures or further layoffs is probably the next likely event before expansion.

OfficeMax is headquartered in Naperville, IL.
