Sails off into the?: Horizon Lines Ships Off 10%

Horizon Lines to cut 10% of its workforce leaving 70 people without a secure paycheck to draw off of when they lay out in front of the super bigbox stores on black Friday during this holiday shopping season.

As the clownsumer fails to buy stuff out of blind mindless consumption or because a failed lame duck president once told him to go out and shop, the shippers will have less to ship and in turn, cut some of their own staff. These will feed right into that cycle.

As you can see shipping is not lucrative if you have taken my advice to look at the Baltic Dry Index (BDI). Keep revisiting it to see when economic pace picks back up. I expect it won't be led by the USA clownsumer, but possibly when the world begins reworking their systems around a failed USA clownsumer and begins to decouple as Peter Schiff had imagined it will pick up slowly. He probably has it right in the long run, but might have failed to realise big things like decoupling take considerable amounts of time.

Horizon Lines is based in Charlotte, SC.
