Parked Cars in PA: Pennsylvania Turnpike to Reduce Staff

Pennsylvania Turnpike has collected less toll funds as they have seen traffic drop and in response will either perform a layoff or buyout employment for some individuals. The number of individuals is unclear, but we will get a better handle after they finish collecting signups to leave jobs on Novermber 20.

Either way, less people will be employed and collecting paychecks than before the tally is collected. It is unclear, since I never drive there, whether the reduced traffic is all of the cause of the reduced income for the turpike or whether some of it is due to people not minding spending longer durations in traffic to save the 50 cents or whatever the cost may be. Probably doesn't matter, reduced traffic is probably the primary driver in the reduced income and there's no longer the fuel charge excuses to blame. It is the economy stupid! Less people working means less need ot go out and spend their morning and evening driving around and less weekend driving to curb expenses. Less companies and less business volume also means less supplies moving around the pike.

One takeaway you need to become familiar with these days. Less is better in many of these things, anyone who says we can rescue ourselves by creating more clownsumer spending is thinking at too shallow a level and can't recognise that's part of the problem that caused this mess and will not contribute to the recovery. No bailouts!
