3,000 dropped calls

Motorola has announced plans to cut 3,000 jobs over the next half-year to help shore up its bleeding red ink all over their quarterly report. They've been weak for a while, but this is a big impact on employment in the Chicago area and probably San Diego.

This sector is not particularly bad for sales, you will note the willingness of people to sign up for monthly 70$ bills to get a certain phone that has a prefix with the letter 'i'. However, aside from sales profitability for a phone manufacturer continues to remain elusive outside of the aforementioned, Nokia, Research in Motion, and many small niche boutiques in Asia.

Motorola is headquartered in Schaumburg, IL.
